CRANKED: DIY Marshall Plexi 18W Amp with Tone Tubby Purple Haze

8 years ago I built a guitar amp based on the Marshall Plexi 18W from the 60's. It was a kit from www.ampmaker.com called the PP-18.

Tone Tubby helped me match a speaker to it, settling on a 12" Purple Haze hemp cone Alnico for its aggressive, detailed tone, perfect for what I had described to them as the tone I was aiming for. I was not trying to recreate the old classic Marshall tones we already know, and the Purple Haze was brand new on their catalogue. So I was really keen to try it.

So I plug in my trusty SG Standard and dial the volume until it doesn't go any futher, stopping along the way to play some riffs and take in the tones.
