How To Play Keith's Guitar Solo On Star Star by The Rolling Stones

In this video we take a detailed look at the great little guitar solo in Star Star ([email protected]#$) by The Rolling Stones.

This little solo is one of my favorites when it comes to Keith Richards' his solo's. It's short, fueled with Chuck Berry ideas, great sound and timing. It's just fun to play. As much as it seems out of context to analyse it against the harmonies, we'll still do so in this video. Just for kicks. There are actually some very nice ideas happening.

The sound is quite odd and cool as well. My take on the gear we need is a good old tiny tube amp and a Gibson guitar with 50's wiring. Crank that a bit and roll the tone knob on the guitar all the way down. I kind of associate this tone with Mick Taylor's sound on a couple of great moments on the Get Your Ya-Ya's Out live album. That'll make for another topic in the future.

Anywho, here's a link to the video where we modify the Champion 600 to make it sound the way we like:

Have fun and always remember, something.
