Pro Tip For Recording Room Tone On Electric Guitar (Live Ambience)

Everyone’s gone away for a few days so I’m in a position where I can set up in the hallway. It’s a beautiful marble staircase. It has a fantastic reverb tone. I set up my guitar amp in the basement miked up with a Beyerdynamic M130 microphone. On the next landing I have a pair of TLM 103’s by Neumann microphones for the ambience. I’ve also recorded the DI from the Telecaster guitar I’m using for the session as a precaution. Just so that if I don’t like the sound, I can alter it in the mix afterwards. Or alternatively just add it to the mix, as I’ve done in this demo. The sound is pretty awesome don’t you think?
