Here's how I use a bunch of cheap, affordable pedals from JOYO and Behringer to develop some staggering high-gain sounds for my guitar rig. I'm using this method to R&D effect combinations for later emulation in a Line6 Helix. The thing I'm into a lot is stacking amp models - seeing how a modeled VOX sound might work coupled with a modeled Fender amp setting, etc. There are virtually endless tonal possibilities when you stack gain and amp models - just be sure to have a nice noise gate to tame it all when things get out of hand. I use an Electroharmonix Silencer to crush the hiss.
